Robert “Bob” Kenneth James

d. September 15, 2024

Robert “Bob” Kenneth James passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, September 15 th , 2024 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. He was 86. Born in Toronto, ON, he was the son of late Ruby Brown (née, James) and Murray Davis.

Bob is survived by his son, Robert (Wendy) of Bridgewater, NS; his daughter, Sonya (Chuck) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Bryannah James, Bronté James, Addison Paul and Kahsie Paul; great-grandchildren, Colton Doucet and Jackson Doucet; sisters, Sharon Boomer (née, Brown) and Margaret Robinson (née, Brown); as well as nieces, nephews and an uncle, Bill James.

Besides his parents, Bob is predeceased by his wife, Deanna (née, Johnston) of 55 years and a sister, Maureen Brown.

Beginning his service as a member of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps at 16, Bob had a 33-year career, spanning provinces, countries and continents. He served at CFB Kingston, SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) in Belgium, Germany, CFB Chatham, CFB Borden, CFB Greenwood, and finally, with his second tour at CFB Gagetown, where he retired in 1986.

He received the E II Silver Jubilee and Nato 2, among many other accolades honouring his time spent in the Forces. After retirement, he spent an additional 38 years as a Corps Commissionaire in Fredericton.

As per his wishes and being a lover of animals, Bob wanted it mentioned that his beloved family dog, Caesar, passed away in 2020. Caesar was more than just a pet; he was a loyal companion and a source of unconditional love for Bob. His feline friend, Ruby, however, is still alive, enjoying the continued love of family.

Because of his love for his family pets, in lieu of flowers, the family asks a donation to be made in Bob’s name to the local SPCA, or another cause close to his heart, the Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick.

There will be no funeral, but a Celebration of Life will take place in the Spring of 2025.
