Doug and Carole had 4 children, Kelly (Pat McGuire), Michelle Shanks (Bob Peterson), Chuck Leus all of Fredericton, NB and Terry Leus of Oromocto, NB, as well as 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; siblings Wayne Leus (Gerry) of Ottawa ON, Roger Leus (Carol Strickland) of Orillia, ON, and Mary Anne Kieran of, Mississauga, ON and many nieces and nephews.
Doug was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, February 12, 1949, and was a man of many talents. A “Jack of all Trades”. After he retired from UNB, Computer Engineering Department, he went into carpentry, built 2 family homes and renovated others. He also got his Pilots, Mariners, and Scuba Licenses. He built a Cessna Kit Plane and converted his truck into using cooking oil and drove it across Canada.
Doug could usually be found on the water with his pride and joy “Miss Heidi” his boat which he converted from a lobster boat. Doug’s main passion in life was his family which he devoted most of his time to. A loving, gentle man loved by many. He will be remembered for his calm outlook on life, his jovial laugh and his devotion to family.
A special thank you to Dr. Paulin for his kindness and care as well as to Tanya from Modern Celebrations and Cremations for her help though this difficult time.
In accordance with Doug’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services. A celebration of life will happen at a later date. Donations can be made to Hospice House in Fredericton or the Canadian Cancer Society.
At this time, we as a family would like to thank Diane Mason and Scott Stewart for their amazing help and support. Also, a special thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Hospice House, Fredericton.
