Barbara McMahon

It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara McMahon announce her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick, on March 24, 2025. Barbara was born on December 2, 1951 in Manchester, England, to Aleksander and Maria (Lis) Widomski.

Barbara will be greatly missed by her daughters, Amy Fernandes (Philip) and Jennifer McMahon (Si); granddaughters, Mya and Philipa, and sister, Shirley (Doug). In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, George, and half-brother, Henry.

Barbara had an adventurous soul and loved nature. She especially loved trees, birds, and gardening. She was also a lover of music, and played the accordion and piano. Some of her happiest times were making music with family and friends.

Barbara had the ability to see beauty everywhere she went and captured these moments on film and canvas. In her later years she became a prolific artist, selling her works worldwide.

She is an inspiration to those she has left behind to lead with kindness, curiosity and generosity.

To honour Barbara’s wishes her family will be designing a virtual memorial space in lieu of a funeral. An official link will appear here shortly.
